Exploring Lake Garda

Before or after your Dolomites Walking Tour…

Why not let my good friend and great local travel and walking guide Wenche Bjornstad (we call her Chi Chi) show you around the Lake Garda area after your walking tour of the Dolomites.

Many people have heard of Lake Como however Lake Garda is closer to the Dolomites and therefore takes less time and effort to get there. Many people (myself included), believe it to be as beautiful as Lake Como. It is certainly less touristy and crowded, less expensive and more authentic. Desenzano is an easy 90 minute train ride from Venice (Mestre) and so you can reach it for dinner on Friday evening after our walking tour ends. It is a great place to stay and to visit nearby Verona and Sirmione.

Below are recommended hotels in the area:

Hotel Piroscafo

Hotel Vittorio

Hotel Estee

Hotel Lido

4-star hotel originally a historical home in Desenzano del Garda. The hotel has a large garden and swimming pool with direct access to the beach and a view of the lake. Some rooms are locateed directly on the shore of the lake.

Chi Chi in the DolomitesChi Chi has lived in Desenzano Del Garda on the south shores of Lake Garda (Lago Del Garda) for 14 years and speaks English, Italian, Norwegian and Swedish. She has organized dozens of events for thousands of clients including weddings, birthday celebrations, corporate events, golf trips, bicycle trips, ski trips, wine tasting, boat trips, and many walking tours in the western Dolomites.

People love being with Chi Chi and you are assured to have a great time with her. To see and experience the lake from a boat and/or explore and enjoy her secret places is really a treat not to be missed. She is available to book your hotel, take you to great places to have a drink as the sun goes down, to experience some great restaurants, shopping, a walking tour of Desenzano, and even nearby Verona and Sirmione and small villages around the lake.

Desenzano and Sirmione are incredibly beautiful and authentic Italian towns with incredible roman ruins, castles and a lot of history which Chi Chi loves telling people about.

Chi Chi is really fun to be with and she will greatly enhance your experience in this spectacular area. She charges between 100 – 300 Euros (plus expenses) depending on how much time she spends with you and the activities chosen. She is often booked in advance so best to email her sooner rather than later at: chichi@rightpathadventures.com

“We just spent a really fun week exploring Lake Garda, Verona, Bolzano and Merano. We we’re really amazed at how much we got to see and do and it was so much nicer than fighting the crowds in the usual tourist spots in Italy. Thank you Chi Chi!”

“Many of my guests ask me what they should do after their week with me in the Dolomites and I suggest visiting this beautiful area of Italy with Chi Chi. Everyone raves about what a great time they had with her, how much they saw and experienced, and what a really fun time they had.” Gary Scott, adventure travel guide.
